Job summary

Prince Industries is seeking an Estimator to generate accurate cost estimates for contract machining projects. You will work with engineering, sales, and production to ensure competitive pricing and profitability, leveraging ERP and Excel calculators.

The role requires reading blueprints, BOMs, and GD&T, with a focus on reducing costs while maintaining design intent. You will collaborate across teams and maintain detailed records for future reference.

Qualifications

• Experience reading drawings and specs to define scope.
• Ability to calculate costs for materials, labor, and outside processes.
• Prepare and submit cost estimates and quotations with ERP and Excel.
• Collaborate with purchasing for updated prices and lead times.
• Work with engineering to improve design efficiency and reduce costs.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, drawings, and specs to define project scope and requirements.
• Calculate costs for materials, labor, and outside processes with ERP(Epicor) and Excel calculators.
• Prepare and submit cost estimates and quotations to stakeholders or clients.
• Work with purchasing to get updated material prices and lead times.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve design efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintain precise records of estimates, assumptions, and historical data for subsequent use.
• Join design reviews and pre-production meetings to confirm cost alignment.
• Monitor developments in material pricing and advancements in manufacturing technologies.
• Evaluate updated customer prints to identify quote impacts.
• Ensure design intent and component quality can be achieved.
• Review sourcing to meet objectives and deadlines.
• Estimate a mix of low and high-volume components and assemblies.
• Contacts customers to resolve technical issues as required.
