Job summary

Steelcrest Precision is seeking a Senior Estimation Engineer in Ohio to turn customer prints into precise quotes. You will own the cost model from materials and cycle time to tooling and outside processing, interfacing with engineering, operations, and sales to influence which jobs we win and our margins.

Expect hands-on CNC exposure, ERP experience, and a drive to improve estimating systems. This role reports to operations and commercial leadership with visibility to executives on pricing

Qualifications

• 5+ years cost estimating or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
• Hands-on knowledge of CNC milling and turning processes.
• Experience with ERP or costing software (Job Boss, Paperless Parts or equivalent) and Excel.
• A track record of quotes that match shop costs and timelines.
• Comfortable pushing back on sales when price does not reflect cost.
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or industrial engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience with ITAR-controlled programs and AS9100 quoting a plus.

Responsibilities

• RFQ Cost Modeling: build cost estimates from prints and specs (material, cycle time, tooling, setup, inspection, outside processing).
• Process and Cycle Time Analysis across milling/turning to estimate realistic times.
• Should‑Cost Modeling for existing parts to defend pricing and identify cost reductions.
• Quote Turnaround: collaborate with sales and PM to deliver timely, accurate quotes.
• Estimate Accuracy: track cost vs actuals and feed insights back into models.
• Capacity/Make/Buy input: factor shop loading and equipment in lead time and pricing.
• DFM input: provide manufacturability feedback during quoting.
• Maintain and improve estimating rate tables, labor standards, and cost models.
