Job summary

Jobot is seeking an Estimator with a focus on Civil/Utilities for our Chicago area projects. This full-time role involves preparing comprehensive cost estimates for civil construction and utility projects, and collaborating with PMs, engineers, and clients to ensure accuracy.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience, strong numerical and negotiation skills, and proficiency in estimating software. Remote-friendly with opportunities for leadership growth within the company.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years as Estimator in civil construction/utilities
• Experience with electrical infrastructure, telecom construction, lighting improvements, and industrial projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction and utility projects including labor, materials, equipment, and other costs
• Review plans and specs to determine scope of work and contents of the estimate
• Conduct site visits and gather data to aid estimate preparation
• Work with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop accurate cost estimates
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to meet project specs and budget
• Participate in negotiation and awarding of contracts
• Maintain a cost estimating database for future reference and cost analysis
• Provide regular updates to management on cost estimation and project financial status
