Job summary

Lane Construction is seeking an experienced estimator/bid manager to lead takeoffs, pricing, and bid development for large civil projects in Cheshire, CT. You will interpret plans and specs, price resources with conventional methods, and assemble preliminary schedules while coordinating with the supply chain to ensure competitive proposals.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of construction estimating experience, and proficiency with HCSS, Agtek and Primavera P6.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Construction experience required.
• 10 years of experience in estimating / bidding.

Responsibilities

• Visits project sites to understand site conditions and constraints.
• Reviews the work of estimators and interprets plans and specs.
• Performs takeoffs, prices scopes, and prepares bid forms and proposals.
• Creates preliminary project schedules using scheduling software.
• Leads the bid team for takeoff and pricing of the project or scope.
• Coordinates with Supply Chain to price resources and manages vendor relations.
• Mentors and coaches others; communicates with DOTs and subcontractors.

Description

• Visits project site to understand site conditions/restrictions.
• Reviews the work of Estimators.
• Utilizes project plans and specifications to interpret and decipher scopes of work.
• Assesses scopes of work to compile and establish pricing to cover project-related work activities using conventional methods and software.
• Creates a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing scheduling software.
• Manages the bid team for takeoff and pricing of project or scope of work.
• Assists in preparing bid form, conceptual estimates and negotiated proposals.
• Mentors, coaches and provides feedback to others.
• Coordinates with Supply Chain, to price the resources needed for project.
• Actively communicates with DOTs, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure projects minority goals are being met.
• Researches historical and regional costs for estimating a bid.
• Researches new bidding opportunities and newly advertised projects.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
