Job summary

The Lane Construction Corporation is seeking a Senior Estimator in Virginia to lead the bid team, visit project sites, and develop preliminary schedules. This role coordinates with supply chain to price resources and builds robust estimates for large civil projects.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of heavy civil estimating experience. Preference for HCSS, Agtek and Primavera P6 proficiency; construction experience is essential.

• Manages the bid team throughout the entire process.
• Visits project sites to understand site conditions/restrictions.

• Coordinates with Supply Chain to price resources needed for the project.
• Assesses scopes of work to compile and establish pricing for project-related activities.
• Mentors and coaches others on bid processes.
• Reviews final estimates for accuracy and completeness.
• Prepares and tracks budgets.
• Researches historical and regional costs for estimating bids.

Description

• Manages the bid team throughout the entire process.
• Visits project sites to understand site conditions/restrictions.
• Creates a preliminary project schedule based on the information provided in the plans and specifications utilizing scheduling software.
• Coordinates with Supply Chain, to price the resources needed for project.
• Assesses scopes of work to compile and establish pricing to cover project-related work activities using conventional methods and software.
• Actively communicates with DOTs, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure projects minority goals are being met.
• Advises and assists in preparing bid form, conceptual estimates and negotiated proposals.
• Reviews all final estimates to ensure accuracy and completion.
• Prepares and tracks budgets.
• Tracks historical costs and ensures they are used in estimating new projects.
• Researches historical and regional costs for estimating a bid.
• May independently develop estimates for large or complex projects.
• Mentors, coaches and provides feedback to others.
• Assigns bid team for new pursuits and distribute assignments to members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
