A well-established specialty construction contractor in the Kansas City region is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to support its growing structural and bridge construction operations.

This is an opportunity for an estimator who brings more than strong takeoff skills. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of bridge and structural construction who can evaluate how a project will actually be built, identify constructability challenges, assess site conditions, and translate those factors into accurate and competitive estimates.

The Senior Estimator will be involved throughout the preconstruction process, from identifying opportunities and reviewing plans to visiting project sites, developing estimates, preparing proposals, and partnering with project management on execution strategy.

What You’ll Do

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop estimates for bridge, structural concrete, deep foundation, shoring, and related structural construction projects
• Review engineering plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements
• Identify and evaluate potential bidding opportunities
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
• Prepare detailed proposals, quotations, and bid packages
• Conduct project site visits to evaluate access, logistics, equipment requirements, constructability, and field conditions
• Develop estimates that account for construction sequencing, crew productivity, equipment utilization, material delivery, and site constraints
• Partner closely with project managers and field leadership during preconstruction and constructability reviews
• Assist with the transition of awarded projects from estimating into execution
• Track project costs and use historical project performance to improve future estimates

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years of construction estimating experience, ideally involving bridges or structural construction
• Strong knowledge of bridge construction, structural concrete, foundations, shoring, or similar structural scopes
• Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and developing complete project estimates
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications
• Experience obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and vendor quotations
• Working knowledge of cranes, excavators, pile-driving equipment, and other equipment commonly associated with structural and foundation construction
• Experience with estimating software; HCSS HeavyBid experience is highly desirable
• Experience with job-cost or accounting systems and tracking project costs
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with project and field teams
