Job summary

Leonard S. Fiore, Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead competitive bidding and manage subcontractor relationships, delivering accurate estimates for mid- to large-scale commercial projects.

Qualifications

• Five to eight years of commercial construction estimating experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
• Strong negotiation, planning, and communication skills.
• Experience with digital takeoffs and estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to define project scope, risks, and assumptions; develop bid strategies and compliant proposals.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals; manage RFIs and clarifications.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost models covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes; produce schedules of values.
• Lead the buyout process, assign trades, manage subcontractor awards, track procurement, and support change orders.
• Guide and train junior estimators and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients; monitor regional construction trends.

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to lead competitive bidding, manage subcontractor relationships, and ensure accurate, complete project estimates. This role requires strategic thinking, strong technical skills, and commercial construction experience.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define project scope, assumptions, and risks, develop bid strategies, coordinate pre-bid meetings, and prepare competitive, compliant proposals.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier proposals, manage RFIs, addenda, and clarifications to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
• Perform detailed digital and manual quantity takeoffs, develop cost models covering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes, and produce schedules of values and job cost breakdowns.
• Lead the buyout process, assign trades, manage subcontractor awards, track procurement progress, and support contract negotiations and change orders.
• Guide and train junior estimators, provide estimating expertise, and foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients, while monitoring regional construction trends to inform estimating strategy.

Qualifications

• Five to eight (5–8+) years commercial construction estimating experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred)
• Experience developing estimates for mid- to large-scale commercial projects valued between $12–$50 million
• Proven ability to lead complex proposals and manage subcontractor bids
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, and other construction-related software platforms for estimating purposes
• Strong negotiation, planning, and communication skills
• Skilled at interpreting drawings, specs, and technical documents
• Deep knowledge of construction processes, materials, and systems
• Experience working with subcontractors and suppliers in a competitive bid environment

Knowledge And Skills

• Detail-oriented, analytical, and solution-focused
• Collaborative mindset; able to lead in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with digital takeoff and estimating software
• Structural or concrete estimating experience
• Common knowledge of healthcare related construction projects (preferred)
