Job summary

Cache Valley Electric is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to lead estimating for complex commercial and industrial electrical projects. You will analyze drawings, develop budgets and GMP pricing, perform takeoffs, and manage subcontractor pricing, while collaborating with PMs, Ops, and leadership in preconstruction.

You will drive bid strategy, identify risks, and push for value engineering on programs from $1M to $250M+.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of electrical estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction.
• Strong understanding of NEC, construction methods and electrical systems.
• Experience with design-build and negotiated work preferred.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, Trimble Accubid Anywhere, ConEst, McCormick, or similar platforms.
• Experience using Bluebeam, Excel, Procore, BuildingConnected, Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead complete estimating efforts for commercial and industrial electrical projects from $1M to $250M+.
• Analyze drawings, specs, and bid documents to prepare accurate, competitive estimates.
• Develop conceptual budgets, design-build estimates, GMP pricing, and hard bids.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, and controls.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities.
• Prepare labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Operations, Engineering, and Leadership in preconstruction.
• Participate in bid strategy meetings and client presentations.
• Assist in developing project schedules, staffing plans, and procurement strategies.
• Maintain current knowledge of labor productivity, material pricing, market trends, and construction methodologies.

Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Estimator is responsible for leading all aspects of the estimating process for complex commercial electrical construction projects. This role requires extensive knowledge of electrical systems, construction means and methods, conceptual estimating, value engineering, subcontractor management, and competitive bid strategy.

The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complete estimating efforts for commercial and industrial electrical construction projects ranging from $1M to $250M+.


• Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate and competitive estimates.


• Develop conceptual budgets, design-build estimates, GMP pricing, and hard bid proposals.


• Perform quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, controls, and specialty electrical systems.


• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor pricing.

• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC), construction methods, and electrical systems.


• Experience with design-build and negotiated work preferred.

• Experience estimating projects exceeding $50 million in electrical scope.
