Our Estimating/Preconstruction team is looking for a Low Voltage Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating for low voltage systems - someone who can build complete, accurate, competitive proposals and own the bid strategy from first look to final submission.
What you'll do
- Lead development of complete, accurate, and competitive RFP responses
- Review plans, specs, bid documents, codes, and schedules to define scope, flag risk, and set the estimating approach
- Spot document conflicts, omissions, and constructability concerns — and drive practical fixes
- Build estimate plans, bid schedules, work assignments, and closeout requirements for each pursuit
- Prepare and review quantity takeoffs in Bluebeam and assembly-based estimating software (ConEst or similar)
- Develop and validate labor units, crew assumptions, productivity factors, subcontract values, material pricing, and indirect costs
- Identify, solicit, and level quotes from suppliers, manufacturers, integrators, and subcontractors
- Prepare conceptual estimates, budgets, alternates, allowances, and change-order estimates
- Lead kickoff, progress, risk review, and bid close meetings
- Run quality control on takeoffs, pricing, scope narratives, and proposal documents before they go out
- Shape pricing, scope, procurement, and value-engineering strategy to sharpen competitiveness and cut risk
- Balance hands-on estimating with directing the estimators assigned to your pursuits
What you'll bring
- Proven experience leading low voltage estimates over $2M
- Experience with conceptual estimates, competitive bids, negotiated proposals, alternates, and change orders
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and ConEst (or comparable assembly-based estimating software)
- Advanced Microsoft 365 skills - Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint
- Strong grasp of labor units, crew composition, and productivity factors
- Solid understanding of contracting methods, RFP compliance, and change-order pricing
- Working knowledge of electrical, communications, life-safety, and accessibility codes
- The ability to reconcile messy or conflicting documents into clear estimating decisions
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Comfort managing multiple high-stakes deadlines without losing accuracy
