Job summary

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, at least 5 years of experience in the construction industry, and strong knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.

Job description

As an experienced Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing project estimates by analyzing specifications and contract plans to ensure cost‑effective quantities and construction methods align with pursuit, schedule and price goals.

What You Will Be Doing

• Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre‑bid meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and person‑hour figures.
• Provide technical input regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval. Review final estimate to ensure defined work aligns with overall project schedule and cost goals.
• Prepare discipline estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of scope of work. Calculate material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
• Monitor client addendum and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
• Assist with design review options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
• Partner with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand‑off meetings between pursuit team and project management team.
• Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
• 5+ years of experience in the construction industry, estimating or cost control preferred.
• Specialized knowledge and experience in alternative construction delivery methods.
• Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Able to lead pursuit and estimating activities on a large or complex pursuit project.
