Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Project Environmental Safety & Health Lead to develop and execute comprehensive ES&H programs for a solar project in the United States. The role requires coordinating with project teams to embed safety in planning, design, construction, commissioning, and startup.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in safety/health and extensive experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work outdoors in field conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree related to occupational safety or health and 8–10 years of relevant experience or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated ability to research and interpret regulatory requirements and standards.
• Excellent oral and written communication, and strong data management and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Develops and manages a project-level safety and health program, or a major component of it, for a large-scale or complex project including technical and administrative aspects.
• Ensures safety and health requirements are integrated in planning, design, construction, commissioning and startup activities.
• Prepares technical and regulatory reports and supports ES&H program execution.
• Provides technical support within ES&H teams and project groups to integrate safety in planning, design and execution.
• Coordinates with other functional leads to address safety and health requirements in project products and activities.
• Prepares or participates in the project Safety and Health Management Plan and related plans and training programs.
• Emphasizes risk assessment and Bechtel’s ES&H Management System to improve program performance.
• Participates in ES&H emergency preparedness planning and investigates safety incidents.
• Analyzes ES&H data, tracks performance trends, and prepares technical reports.
• Builds relationships with stakeholders and addresses safety and health issues.
