Qualifications

• Experience with ECR/ECN processes, BOM/PLM systems, and ERP/MRP tools.

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Senior Equipment & Tool Engineer to join the Test Equipment Engineering team in Heath, OH.

The Senior Equipment & Tool Engineer (Mid-Level) is responsible for analyzing, procuring, and managing spare parts and electronic components for all test stations. This role coordinates cross‑functional engineering efforts and vendor activities to support test station readiness, drives obsolescence mitigation and design updates, and leads customer presentations and approvals through a formal change working group.

Position Responsibilities:

• Analyze spare parts and electronic component requirements for all test stations; maintain accurate spare parts lists and forecasts
• Work with internal functions (test engineering, design, manufacturing, procurement, quality, and logistics) to define, prioritize, and obtain required parts
• Source and manage relationships with outside vendors and distributors for components and assemblies; ensure delivery schedules and quality requirements are met
• Monitor component lifecycle and lead obsolescence risk assessments; identify alternatives, design changes, or requalification needs to mitigate obsolescence impacts
• Coordinate design updates and suggestions between engineers for hardware, firmware, and test station software; capture engineering change requests (ECRs) and drive engineering change notices (ECNs)
• Maintain and update BOMs, CAD/PLM records, and spare parts databases to reflect current configurations and approved changes
• Prepare and present proposed design changes, obsolescence plans, and spare parts strategies to customers and stakeholders; lead discussions with customer representatives
• Facilitate customer approvals through the established change working group or configuration control board; document approvals and disposition actions
• Support test station sustainment activities, troubleshoot part failures, and recommend corrective actions or upgrades
• Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant quality standards (e.g., AS9100), export control, and procurement procedures
• Track metrics for spare parts availability, lead times, cost, and obsolescence risk; report status to management and stakeholders
• Participate in continuous improvement activities to optimize spare parts management, reduce costs, and improve test station uptime

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years of experience in test equipment support, spare parts management, procurement coordination, or obsolescence management in an aerospace, defense, or electronics environment
• Practical knowledge of electronic components, assemblies, and test station hardware
• Experience with engineering change processes (ECR/ECN), BOM/PLM systems, and ERP/MRP tools

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

• Strong vendor management and procurement coordination experience
• Demonstrated ability to present technical information to customers and lead cross‑functional change approval processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation and presentation skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
• Familiarity with industry standards and practices for obsolescence management
• Experience with contract/customer-facing change boards or working groups
• Certifications such as IPC, ASQ, Six Sigma, or relevant procurement/supply chain certifications
