Job summary

The Boeing Company in Heath, OH is seeking an Associate Test Engineer to develop and overhaul test strategies for hardware and software test equipment used in missile and guidance system testing. You’ll work with cross‑discipline engineers, support gated processes, and contribute to metrology methods and test reports.

Qualifications include a BS in engineering or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, plus 1+ year in electrical/instrumentation engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or equivalent.
• 2+ years of related work experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination.
• 1+ years of manufacturing, production, or electrical/instrumentation engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Support a project management‑based gated process using the phase‑gate process.
• Assist in interpreting, analyzing, and developing engineering data to support requirements.
• Assist in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods.
• Develop test procedures and the instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform each test and minimize risk.
• Design component and sub‑assembly level hardware or software, and use analytical tools to verify design.
• Assist in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of internally overhauled or third party‑procured test hardware.
• Identify solutions to basic problems and support the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools.
• Assist in evaluating test performance data for accuracy, quality, or fidelity; alert senior engineers of off‑nominal data and prepare test reports.
• Assist in the development of test debrief material.
• Collaborate with program management, design authority engineering groups, operations, and government customer counterparts.
• As assemblies, instruments, cables, and interfaces are replaced due to obsolescence, create/revise drawings and conduct test and qualification of the overhauled test equipment.
• Test software development and/or support experience using LabVIEW and/or Microsoft Visual Studio, or other comparable programming languages.

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Associate Test Engineer in Heath, OH (35 minutes east of Columbus, OH) to conduct development and overhaul of re‑design strategies, that effect both hardware and software, for test equipment used in the mechanical and electronics testing of U.S. Strategic Deterrence Systems for the U.S. Air Force Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Guidance Systems, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy Guidance Systems, and other military programs.

Position Responsibilities:

• Support a project management‑based gated process using the phase‑gate process

• Assist in demonstrating the effectiveness of test methods
• Develop test procedures and the instrumentation and configuration definition needed to perform each test and minimize risk
• Design component and sub‑assembly level hardware or software, and use analytical tools to verify design
• Assist in coordinating the manufacture and assembly of internally overhauled or third party‑procured test hardware
• Identify solutions to basic problems and support the development of metrology processes, methods, and tools
• Assist in evaluating test performance data for accuracy, quality, or fidelity. Alert senior engineers of off‑nominal data and prepare test reports for review prior to delivery to customer
• Assist in the development of test debrief material
• Collaborate with program management, design authority engineering groups, operations, and government customer counterparts
• As assemblies, instruments, cables, and interfaces are replaced due to obsolescence, additional engineering responsibilities will include creating or revising and reviewing drawings and documents and conducting test and qualification of the overhauled test equipment

• Test software development and/or support experience using LabVIEW and/or Microsoft Visual Studio, or other comparable programming languages

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non‑US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• 2+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education
• 1+ years of manufacturing, production, or electrical/instrumentation engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

• Proven record of either developing or executing test plans or test procedures
• Test software development and/or support experience using LabVIEW and/or Microsoft Visual Studio, or other comparable programming languages
• Laboratory testing, data analysis, instrumentation, system integration, or manufacturing (specifically assembly, integration, and test) experience
• Government or DoD program experience
