Job summary

The City of Round Rock is seeking an Equipment Operator to assist in constructing and maintaining city streets, trails, and drainage systems. You will operate a variety of heavy equipment including gradalls, bulldozers, backhoes, dump trucks, paving machines, and loaders under supervision.

Requirements include a High school diploma or GED and at least three years of equipment operation experience, with a Class A CDL and endorsements preferred or obtainable within a year.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED equivalent.
• Three or more years of experience as an equipment operator.
• Possession of a Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement or ability to obtain prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist a field crew in maintenance and construction of streets, trails, parking structures, alleys, and storm drainage systems.
• Operate equipment to repair and maintain streets and storm drainage systems, including graders, bulldozers, backhoes, dump trucks, paving machines, and loaders.
• Maintain records and prepare reports of work performed and materials used.
• Plan, lay out, estimate and arrange for materials and equipment to execute the job successfully.
• Oversee an assigned area and identify asphalt in need of repair or reconstruction.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, the public, contractors, and others.
• Haul various types of material to and from locations and set up traffic safety devices and barricades.
• Perform emergency street, sewer, storm drain, or other public service maintenance work as required.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
