Job summary

City of Round Rock is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker to support the construction and upkeep of city streets, trails, and related assets. You will assist a field crew, operate heavy machinery, and maintain equipment and records in a busy municipal setting.

The role requires graduation from high school or GED, at least 6 months of general maintenance experience, and CDL Class A eligibility within six months. Certifications in work zone safety and related areas are favored.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months general maintenance or general labor experience.
• Street maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist a field crew in maintenance and construction of streets, trails, structures, alleys and other areas as assigned.
• Perform street maintenance duties including asphalt and concrete repair and mowing.
• Operate vehicles and equipment including dump trucks backhoes, and loaders as well as assorted hand and pneumatic tools, for a variety of construction and maintenance operations.
• Maintains records and prepares reports of work performed and materials used.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, the public, contractors and others.
• Sets up traffic safety devices and barricades as necessary.
• Maintains storm drains, catch basin, and storm drain pipes.
• Performs emergency street, sewer, storm drain, or other public service maintenance work as required.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned.
