Job summary

Barton Supply in Aurora, CO is seeking a skilled mechanic with experience in diesel and gas-powered trucks and heavy equipment such as forklifts and cranes. You will maintain, repair, and service our fleet to keep operations running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of hands-on experience, knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems, and a valid driver's license (CDL preferred). We offer a comprehensive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience working on gas and diesel engines and heavy equipment.
• Certification in Automotive or Diesel Technology is a plus.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair diesel and gas-powered fleet trucks.
• Service and repair heavy equipment, including forklifts and cranes.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventive checks.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues with vehicles and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of all repairs and services.
• Assist with emergency breakdowns and road service calls.
• Consulting the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required
• Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues
• Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions
• Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts
• Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts
• Conducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown
• Test driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance
• Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checks
• Maintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles
• Preform and maintain DOT inspection compliance on fleet vehicles and trailers
