Job summary

Nokia is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineer for our Optical Networks division in Sunnyvale, CA. The role focuses on sustaining and improving wafer fabrication tools (plasma etchers, deposition tools) with hands-on maintenance, installs, and process improvements.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in a manufacturing environment, strong knowledge of vacuum/RF systems, and experience with AMAT P5000 tools. Willingness to work off-shifts and travel to support equipment upgrades is required.

Qualifications

Minimum AA/DeVry Degree or equivalent with hands-on equipment focus.
Experience: minimum 7 years in manufacturing environment as an equipment engineer.
Expertise includes vacuum, RF, mechanical design, electrical troubleshooting, data collection/in manipulation, and basic Visual Basic programming.

Responsibilities

Own and improve tool uptime in a 24x7 wafer fabrication environment; perform tool installs, preventive maintenance and repairs.
Create written operating procedures and training for operators and technicians.
Develop troubleshooting guides for recurring root-cause issues and ensure ISO 9001/14001 compliance.
Review equipment check-sheets for accuracy and safety, and support off-shift work and weekend deployments.
