Job summary

RTX in Plano, Texas is seeking an EO/IR Principal Systems Engineer to provide SME-level electro-optics sensor expertise across multiple programs. This onsite role requires a Top Secret DoD clearance and U.S. citizenship.

You will guide sensor design, develop processing algorithms, and mentor a small engineering team. Ideal candidates will have 8+ years in optical design, C/C++ programming, MATLAB/Python data analysis, and strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant work or academic experience.
• Imaging EO/IR systems, physics, image signal processing, or discrimination algorithms.
• UNIX/Linux and demonstrated programming skills in C or C++ and using MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced EO/IR sensor and mode performance knowledge.
• Guide EO/IR sensor designs with hardware and systems engineering teams.
• Develop and implement mode algorithms on advanced processing platforms; lead a small team of analysts.
