Job summary

Muon Space seeks a Senior Systems Engineer for EO/IR payloads to drive early-stage concepts, develop models, and validate new imaging modes. You will bridge Applied Science, Payload Engineering, Product, Mission Systems, and Business Development across government and commercial customers.

The role requires strong EO/IR systems engineering background, excellent communication, and willingness to travel. Candidates should have 5+ years in related fields and be eligible for security clearances as

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a systems or instrument engineer in EO/IR payloads
• Background in infrared, multispectral, hyperspectral or similar remote sensing phenomologies
• Experience in EO/IR space missions across government and commercial markets
• Software skills in Python, MATLAB, and/or Julia for modeling and analysis
• Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, analyze, demonstrate, and experiment with new EO/IR payload concepts
• Develop system and payload requirements, build simulations and models
• Identify novel imaging modes and operational use cases for stakeholders
• Support early-stage R&D activities and proposals as Principal Investigator
• Translate ideas into feasible architectures and demonstrations
