Job summary

BKV Corporation seeks a Senior Environmental Specialist to serve as the department's senior technical resource, leading complex environmental programs and advising Operations on risk and compliance strategy for midstream and gas processing assets.

This experienced, individual contributor role applies extensive knowledge of air quality and environmental regulations to achieve operational goals with limited supervision. Hybrid work options may be available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • Requires 6–10 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: environmental engineering or environmental science degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for environmental compliance programs and support EHSR objectives.
  • Partner with leadership to develop and enhance environmental programs and risk strategies.
  • Lead complex permitting, inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance activities for facilities.
  • Evaluate data to balance regulatory compliance, operations, sustainability and risk.
  • Lead field programs: soil and water sampling, SPCC, stormwater, waste management and remediation.
  • Prepare and oversee environmental reports for air, water and waste programs.
  • Serve as technical lead for air quality compliance activities and emissions reporting.
  • Lead due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures and legacy liabilities.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries, guiding Operations.
  • Direct consultants and coordinate contractor activities for projects.
  • Develop and deliver training on environmental requirements and mentor staff.

Job Summary

The Senior Environmental Specialist serves as the department's senior technical resource, leading complex environmental programs and advising Operations and leadership on environmental risk and compliance strategy within our midstream and gas processing assets. This is a non-managerial, individual contributor position that may include limited delegation and review of work performed by less experienced staff. This role is a seasoned professional who applies extensive knowledge of air quality and environmental regulations and strong project and process management skills to achieve operational goals. Works independently with minimal supervision. May manage projects and processes to improve efficiency. May coach and review the work of junior employees. Problems faced are typically difficult and sometimes complex. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for environmental compliance programs and support the achievement of EHSR objectives, organizational goals, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to develop, implement, and enhance environmental programs, procedures, compliance initiatives, and environmental risk management strategies.
  • Lead complex environmental permitting, inspections, audits, enforcement actions, and regulatory compliance activities for assigned facilities.
  • Evaluate environmental data and compliance performance to develop technical solutions that balance regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, sustainability, and environmental risk.
  • Lead environmental compliance activities, including field assessments, soil and water sampling, waste profiling, wastewater monitoring, SPCC, stormwater, waste management, remediation, and spill response planning.
  • Prepare, analyze, maintain, and oversee environmental databases, inventories, compliance records, regulatory notifications, and required environmental reports for air, water, and waste programs.
  • Serve as the technical lead for air quality compliance activities, including air applicability determinations, greenhouse gas, Quad O, emissions reporting, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Lead environmental due diligence activities supporting acquisitions, divestitures, legacy environmental liabilities, and environmental risk evaluations.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies during inspections, inquiries, enforcement actions, and environmental events while providing technical guidance to Operations and leadership.
  • Direct the technical work of environmental consultants, coordinate contractor activities, and provide technical oversight for environmental projects.
  • Develop and deliver environmental compliance training, communicate environmental requirements to Operations, and mentor less experienced environmental professionals.
  • Participate in health, safety, and environmental initiatives, complete required training, and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Texas Railroad Commission (RRC), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and applicable federal environmental programs related to midstream and natural gas processing operations.
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading regulatory interactions and managing complex compliance matters.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and job-related applications. Uses understanding of digital concepts to create basic digital tools.
  • Strong project management, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills including proven ability to collaborate effectively with operations and environmental compliance teams.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (relevant experience can be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree).
  • Requires a minimum of 6-10 years of relevant experience.
Preferred

Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or other related discipline.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Location
  • This position is based out of the BKV Fort Worth, Texas office. Remote or hybrid work may be considered.
  • Some travel up to (20%) may be required.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based with standard business hours; extended hours may be required depending on business needs. May occasionally be exposed to distracting noise while sharing office space with others.
