Job summary

BKV Corporation is seeking a Facilities Project Engineer III to support the CCS project team through FEED and design phases, with involvement across appraise, construction, operation and maintenance. This role requires expert knowledge in CCS facilities and coordination with Operations and Engineering to optimize project costs, safety and long-term viability.

The successful candidate will lead CCS standards development, interact with midstream and upstream units, and manage multi-disciplinary

Qualifications

  • Strong technical background in plant processing, CO₂ compression, midstream operations, and construction management.
  • Proven experience in CO₂ facilities in oil and gas applications.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, metering, dehydration units, and H₂S treating in CO₂ contexts.
  • Knowledge of pipeline and process modeling tools; proficiency in Synergy, ProMax, HYSYS, or equivalent.
  • Business acumen, with cost/benefit approach and balance of cost, quality and project economics.
  • Deep understanding of industry codes and standards (ASME, NACE, API, ASTM, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of federal (EPA) and state-level regulatory frameworks governing CO₂, CCS, and carbon management.
  • Strong project and time management capabilities; able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering tools such as Synergy.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop fit-for-purpose appraisal and selection criteria and innovative solutions for CCS facilities.
  • Perform scoping CCS FEED and design with an eye to project optionality and long-term viability.
  • Work with the Operations team to create designs that will address from build onto project end of life.
  • Be a subject matter expert for CCS facilities at BKV. Work with the Facilities Engineering team to help identify and develop internal engineering standards and design guidelines.
  • Be a subject matter expert for CCS pipelines and facilities at BKV. Develop standards and guidelines for transportation components of CCS projects.
  • Support projects in the later stages of development through early-stage design of preventive maintenance programs; lead facility inspections and audits.
  • Manage third-party engineering efforts during appraisal including RFP development, bid evaluation, and vendor relations.
  • Provide expert advice on procurement, EPC and contractor/vendor management matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Facilities Project Engineer III works with the Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) project team during the FEED and design phases of the project, along with providing support as needed during appraise, construction, operation, and maintenance of the facilities to ensure cost-effective, efficient, safe, and optimal CCS facilities throughout the project lifecycle. The Senior Facilities Engineer may contribute to projects in BKV’s upstream and midstream business units as needed.

This role is recognized as a subject matter expert in the work area. The person in this role will have to be able to think critically and work with various stakeholders in a very dynamic and collaborative way to ensure that projects are identified and initially scoped that could have maximum positive impact to BKV’s business. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.

  • Support projects in the later stages of development though early-stage design of preventive maintenance programs. Direct and participate in facility inspections and audits on facilities at BKV.
  • Manage third-party engineering efforts during appraisal including RFP development, bid evaluation, and vendor relations. Provide expert advice on procurement, EPC and contractor/vendor management matters.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or similar equivalent.
  • 7+ years facilities engineering experience in oil and gas, with recent focus on CO2 applications.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Location
  • This position is based out of the BKV Office in Fort Worth, Texas or Denver, Colorado.
  • Some travel (up to 30%) may be required
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based with standard business hours; extended hours may be required depending on business needs. May occasionally be exposed to distracting noise while sharing office space with others.
  • Periodic field visits to active project sites may be required and may be exposed to construction noise and debris. Must adhere to safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when on BKV worksites.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate a computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience. (Base Pay $113,000 - $215,000)
