Job Description and Responsibilities

The Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) is a key member of the Division of Environmental Planning and Engineering at Caltrans District 5 in San Luis Obispo, CA. The role involves leading environmental teams on complex transportation projects, independently planning and executing environmental studies, and ensuring timely completion of environmental documents in compliance with federal and state laws. The incumbent will analyze social, natural, and environmental data, review senior-level documents, and may require occasional overtime, travel, and overnight stays. A valid driver's license is desirable.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possession of a valid driver’s license when operating a State vehicle.
• Submission of a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) demonstrating communication skills, relevant experience, education, and training. The SOQ is considered the first interview.
