Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist in Clay, NY to develop and execute the environmental component of an ESH program on complex projects.

You will integrate environmental requirements into planning, permitting, design, construction, startup and operations, and provide technical guidance on risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and regulatory compliance. Strong communication skills required. Experience with ISO 14001 and environmental impact assessments is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in environmental science or related field from an accredited university.
• Four or more years of experience in environmental sciences or regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, or similar complex industrial projects preferred.
• Ability to communicate environmental risks clearly to project leadership.
• Experience with environmental impact assessments.

Responsibilities

• Integrate environmental requirements into project planning, permitting, design, construction, commissioning and startup, and operations.
• Provide support in the execution of environmental permits, plans, and assessments.
• Monitor, and enforce environmental requirements for subcontractors, including onboarding, field verification, and corrective action management.
• Perform site assessments and survey to identify site conditions and develop mitigation and sustainability strategies.
• Provide technical guidance regarding mitigation measures for natural and cultural resources.
• Support environmental risk management for hazardous chemicals and high‑purity systems in semiconductor projects.
• Assist ESH teams with permitting, risk assessment, plan preparation, and program execution.
• Identify and track environmental issues and regulatory requirements.
