Job summary

VHB seeks an Environmental Scientist / Project Manager to support our growing Natural Sciences team. This hybrid role will contribute to transportation, energy, land development, and infrastructure projects across Massachusetts and New England, based in Watertown or Worcester.

You will manage environmental permitting, lead wetland delineations and related field work, prepare permit applications and technical reports, and coordinate with internal teams, clients, and agencies while mentoring

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in environmental science, natural resources, wetland science, soil science, ecological sciences, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional environmental consulting experience with emphasis on wetland delineations and environmental project management.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental permitting, natural resource evaluation, and construction compliance tasks from scope development through delivery.
• Lead wetland and watercourse delineations, habitat evaluations, rare species surveys, and related field investigations.
• Prepare and coordinate local, state, and federal environmental permit applications and technical reports.
• Provide environmental compliance monitoring and reporting during construction, including erosion and sedimentation control oversight.
• Coordinate internal teams, subconsultants, clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders; communicate project status and strategies.
• Review deliverables for technical quality and mentor junior staff.
