Job summary

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Project Manager in the Chicago/Oak Brook, IL area with 8 to 15+ years of experience to lead environmental site investigations, remediation, and compliance projects.

You will manage project teams, oversee contractual and financial aspects, mentor staff, and maintain strong client relationships while representing GZA with clients through proposal, contract, and performance phases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of contaminants fate and transport and experience in conceptual site model development.
• Experience with consulting engineering firms and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in Michigan (experience in adjacent states is a plus).
• Self-starter with minimal supervision and strong client outreach skills.
• Demonstrate professional judgment, attention to detail, and high-quality work products.
• Experience with Phase I/II investigations and remediation oversight.

Responsibilities

• Managing project team, delegating to office and field staff, and executing daily project activities.
• Managing project contractual and financial issues (including terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process)
• Mentoring GZA staff
• Monitoring team performance for compliance with contractual agreements and budgets
• Conducting site compliance inspections
• Preparing proposals and environmental reports with Principal guidance
• Conducting/reviewing technical analyses/calculations
• Participating in meetings and agency consultation
• Conducting internal and client communications
• Possibly supporting projects outside primary responsibilities as part of the One Company culture
