Job summary

The City of New York is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to lead environmental assessments for new construction and rehabilitation projects, ensuring compliance with NEPA, HUD reviews, and state regulations. You will work under the Environmental Planning Unit to advance the SPEED initiative, expediting equitable development and maintaining healthy, safe housing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Graduate Degree in Urban or Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies or Environmental Science.
• Ability to negotiate with diverse technical specialists and apply sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review NEPA federal environmental assessments in line with HUD/CEQR requirements.
• Prepare CEQR applications and Environmental Assessment Statements.
• Provide oversight and technical assistance to ensure environmental determinations.
• Manage day-to-day environmental review activities to meet deadlines.
• Review Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and related plans for completeness.
