Job summary

AES Indiana, a part of The AES Corporation, is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to lead environmental permitting for transmission and distribution projects in Indiana and Ohio. You will coordinate consultants for Phase 1 and Phase 2 assessments and ensure permit compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or engineering and at least seven years of related experience, with strong MS Office skills and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field from an accredited college/university.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of recent environmental construction permitting or oversight of permitting in Indiana and Ohio.
• Experience with environmental construction permitting (CWA 404; CWA 401; nationwide permits; stormwater; floodway/floodplain; drainage easement; local permits).
• Experience with regulatory consultations (RTE species; MBTA; ESA; BGEPA; NHPA).
• Experience with ASTM E1527-21.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and communicate with diverse groups; MS Office proficiency.
• Willingness to work in a union environment; valid Indiana or Ohio driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Leading environmental permitting activities for a large number of T&D construction projects in Indiana and Ohio.
• Reviewing environmental permitting for generation projects and coordinating consultants for ESAs and related assessments.
• Developing or enhancing permitting programs and standards for prioritizing and obtaining permits.
• Providing environmental due diligence, emergency response, and waste support to T&D teams.
• Interacting with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure permit compliance and reporting.
