Job summary

AES Indiana is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to lead environmental permitting for large transmission and distribution projects across Indiana and Ohio. Under the Director of Global Environmental Affairs, you will manage permits, coordinate consultants, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in environmental construction permitting, with strong communication and the ability to manage multiple

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of recent environmental construction permitting or oversight in Indiana and Ohio.
• Experience with CWA 404/401; nationwide permits; stormwater and floodplain permitting.
• Familiarity with RTE/ESA/MBTA/BGEPA and NHPA, and ASTM E1527-21.
• Strong communication, deadline-driven, and valid Indiana/Ohio driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of environmental permitting for T&D projects across AES Indiana and AES Ohio.
• Coordinate with consultants for Phase 1/2 ESAs, natural and cultural resources studies.
• Develop and maintain permitting programs and standards; ensure compliance.
• Provide due diligence, emergency response, and waste support to T&D teams.
• Interact with local/state/federal agencies; ensure permit terminations when required.
• Collaborate with Planning, Siting, and Outreach teams on projects and initiatives.
