Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking an Environmental Specialist III (Sanitation) to conduct complex environmental inspections of facilities and sites. You will investigate incidents, determine compliance with environmental laws, and operate with technical discretion under minimal supervision.

The role requires multiple certifications, a strong driving record, and the ability to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of hands-on experience in environmental inspections, handling hazardous materials, chemical analysis in waste management, spill response or soil/water/air/groundwater sampling.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Forty (40)-hour HAZWOPER certification required for all spill response divisions.
• REM/CESCP certifications required for specific divisions (as listed).
• Preferred OSHA 30-hour Safety Certificate; experience with SDS and ISO 14001 is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Under minimal supervision, performs complex environmental work.
• Inspects public and private facilities, indoor and outdoor sites.
• Investigates incidents to determine compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
• Works independently and makes technically discretionary decisions.
