Job summary

The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in Tallahassee seeks a Senior Attorney to provide counsel on labor and employment law to the Department’s HR Bureau. They help ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and address personnel grievances, while supporting litigation attorneys in related matters.

Qualified candidates hold a JD, active state license, and substantial experience in labor relations or public-sector legal compliance; strong negotiation and communication skills

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the relevant state, with good standing in the state bar.
• Experience in labor relations, employment law, or public sector legal compliance.
• Extensive knowledge of federal and state employment statutes, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA; strong negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide counsel on labor and employment law to DEP’s Bureau of Human Resource Management.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and address personnel grievances.
• Assist litigation attorneys in employment-related litigation and draft legal documents and collective bargaining agreements.

Education

Juris Doctor (JD) degree

Active license to practice law in the relevant state
