Bergen County is seeking a Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist for the Division of Environmental Health within the Department of Health Services. The role leads Environmental Health Specialists and trainees, conducts inspections, enforces sanitary and environmental laws, and provides public health guidance.

This full-time position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, two years of experience, an active NJ REHS license, and a valid NJ driver’s license.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant environmental fields.
• Two (2) years of related experience in environmental health enforcement.
• Active Registered Environmental Health Specialist License (NJ).
• Valid NJ driver’s license required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Acts as a technical resource for junior staff and provides instruction and guidance.
• Organizes assigned technical field and office work and develops effective methods.
• Conducts licensing, operation, and enforcement activities of environmental health laws.
• Reviews plans for residential, commercial, and industrial development for compliance.
• Educates the public and coordinates with local health officials on health matters.
• Responds to emergencies and conducts routine and emergency inspections.
