Job summary

The Arkansas Department of Health is seeking an Environmental Health Inspector Supervisor/Expert in Little Rock to oversee statewide inspection programs, enforce health regulations, and provide leadership to a team of inspectors.

Requires a bachelor's degree in environmental health or related field, 5 years of experience with at least 2 in a supervisory role, and a license. In-state travel and FDA Grade A Inspector certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental health, public health, biology, or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in environmental health inspection, including at least 2 in a supervisory/expert role.
• Certification or licensure preferred (REHS).

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of Environmental Health Inspectors and support staff.
• Develop and oversee statewide environmental health inspection programs (food safety, sanitation, water quality, waste disposal).
• Review inspection reports and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Provide expert consultation on complex environmental health issues.
• Collaborate with agencies and stakeholders to protect public health.
• Deliver training and education for staff and partners.
• Conduct advanced inspections in high-risk areas.
• Prepare reports and policy recommendations for state bodies.
