As Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist you will be responsible for providing technical support on Environmental, Health and Safety programmes, and provide support to with relevant environmental, health and safety issues, reporting to EHS Lead. Previous start-up experience or Biotechnology Industrial experience would be desirable.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure compliance with statutory legislation and internal policies and procedures.
2. Coordinate environmental controls and ensure compliance with IPC license.
3. Ensure records are maintained.
4. Generate reports in a timely and efficient manner.
5. Liaise with external EHS Agencies e.g., EPA.
6. Ensure compliance with all environmental licenses for the facility.
7. Coordinate site environmental waste management and drive continuous improvements.
8. Ensure compliance with Battery, WEEE and Waste Packaging Directives for Europe.
9. Carry out risk assessments and implement appropriate control measures.
10. Implement and update EHS control procedures as required.
11. Develop training programmes and provide training on EHS.
12. Coordinate procurement, supply, provision and maintenance of personal protective equipment and personal monitoring equipment.
13. Coordinate meetings and provide information and training.
14. Coordinate occupational health surveillance programs.
15. Carryout accident investigations and generate reports.
16. Perform all duties in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs and controlled documents.
17. Will be flexible to take on additional tasks and responsibilities at the discretion of the EHS Associate Director.

Qualifications Experience & Skills:

Degree in Science, Engineering and/or Health & Safety is required (Level 8). Postgraduate in Health & Safety as a minimum (Level 9).

8+ years related pharmaceutical/biosafety industry experience – is required and experience working within a regulatory environment is required. Demonstrate experience in managing EHS Teams either within the Department or as part of a program initiative. Leading Root Cause investigations.

Attention to detail and sound scientific problem solving will be fundamental to this role with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role in a manufacturing or process industry.
