Job summary

ERM is seeking a Principal Consultant, Environmental FERC Project Manager to lead permitting and compliance for natural gas, LNG, and emerging energy projects across the country. You will guide complex, multi-site initiatives through regulatory review, while shaping policy and client strategy.

The role demands prior consulting experience with FERC projects, strong communication, and the ability to manage large programs on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field and prior consulting experience.
  • FERC project expertise is essential for regulated energy projects.
  • 6+ years in environmental impact assessment and permitting for FERC-regulated projects.
  • At least 5 years managing large-scale natural gas and LNG permitting projects.
  • Deep knowledge of NEPA and key natural resource regulations (CWA, NHPA, ESA).
  • Strong communication skills for engaging clients, agencies, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large, multi-faceted projects with scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Act as primary client contact and lead interdisciplinary teams through permitting phases.
  • Oversee FERC applications and coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Develop technical proposals, identify opportunities, and maintain client relationships.
  • Represent ERM in regulatory meetings and industry forums.
  • Ensure quality control across environmental assessments and compliance deliverables.
