Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Environmental Engineer (Level 3) to join our EHS team in Elk River, MN. The role focuses on leveraging ISO 14001 EMS practices to drive environmental protection, risk reduction, compliance and sustainability at a complex defense facility.

Responsibilities include coordinating regulatory inspections, environmental reporting, permitting, and cross-functional collaboration to implement robust environmental controls and safety practices on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or Related Sciences with 5 years of related engineering experience, OR Masters degree in a STEM field with 3 years of related experience.
• Regulatory and permitting experience navigating CAA, CWA, RCRA/EPCRA, TRI, Stormwater, drinking water and other regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, review and analyze regulations issued by county, MN Pollution Control Agency and Federal EPA to determine potential impacts and ensure compliance.
• Prepare environmental emissions calculations, reporting, permitting, sampling and monitoring to maintain compliance.
• Collaborate across departments to develop and implement effective environmental controls.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure best practices are followed and escalate compliance issues.
• Manage hazardous waste generation, accumulation, labeling, storage, tracking and profiling.
