Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Environmental Engineer to lead site-specific air permitting strategies across its facilities. You will interpret federal and state air regulations, coordinate audits, and manage contractor activities for permitting and testing.

The role requires 12+ years in EHS oversight and strong communication to interact with regulators, engineers, and leadership. Relocation to Texas facilities is required as part of the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related field.
• 12+ years of experience in design, development, and oversight of EHS disciplines.
• Expertise in federal air regulations including the Clean Air Act, NSPS/PSD/Title V.
• Track record of successful permitting at complex sites and regulatory coordination.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical data interpretation.
• Experience developing air compliance programs across multiple facilities or states.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute site-specific air permitting strategies at SpaceX sites.
• Plan changes in facilities or construction, review new equipment and programs for regulatory compliance.
• Serve as SME on the Clean Air Act and air regulations across jurisdictions.
• Track and interpret new federal/state air regulations and guide leadership teams.
• Conduct internal air compliance audits and support external inspections.
• Coordinate and manage contractors for permitting and environmental testing; review reports.
• Engage regulators and maintain positive relationships with agencies.
• Support engineering teams and leadership across sites.
