Job Summary

Langan is seeking a Senior Staff Environmental Engineer to join its collaborative team in Parsippany, NJ. This individual will play a key role in site exploration activities, including soil borings and monitoring well installations; conducting field tests; collecting field data and samples; monitoring construction sites; and compiling data and preparing reports. The position offers opportunities to work on diverse projects, solve problems, and contribute to environmental restoration and the reuse of blighted properties, all while protecting and enhancing the environment. Job Responsibilities

1. Assist with planning and executing field investigations, including performing tests, collecting samples, recording data, and performing routine calculations;
2. Monitor complex construction projects by conducting tests to evaluate contractor or subcontractor compliance with specifications;
3. Collect various environmental samples, including soil, vapor, air, sediment, surface water, and groundwater;
4. Operate and maintain groundwater and soil vapor treatment systems;
5. Support regulatory compliance and permit acquisition for site investigations and remediation;
6. Review environmental, geological, and historical records to support due diligence;
7. Prepare logs and forms such as drilling logs, investigation dailies, and chain of custody logs;
8. Identify and solve field problems, documenting issues and informing the project manager;
9. Lead the preparation and modification of engineering documents, reports, plans, and estimates;
10. Manage tasks within budgets and schedules, tracking project finances as needed;
11. Interact professionally with clients and subcontractors in collaboration with supervisors;
12. Supervise or coordinate work of staff engineers and interns;
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering;
• 3-5 years of experience in contaminated site investigation, remediation, and oversight;
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or GISPro;
• Valid Professional licensure or ability to obtain within one year;
• Experience with Phase I, II, and III environmental assessments;
• Knowledge of groundwater treatment system design, operation, and maintenance;
• Understanding of environmental regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Attention to detail, analytical skills, and multitasking abilities;
• Ability to work independently and in teams;
• Availability for overtime and reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license.
