Responsibilities

• Obtain, update, and maintain environmental plans, permits, and SOPs and monitor progress.

• Provide administrative support: data collection, documentation, training staff.
• Develop proposed project objectives and report progress to management.
• Advise on procedures to clean up contaminated sites and assist in budgeting.
• Inform employees and interested parties of environmental issues.
• Coordinate with environmental and acquisition disciplines on environmental questions.

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior EnvironmentalEngineer providing support to the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC/HBD), Theater Battle Control Division.

The Theater Battle Control Division manages efforts focused on developing, acquiring, fielding and sustaining programs that support worldwide communications, Battle Management, Command & Control, Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C2ISR), Tactical Air Control, Air/Ground Surveillance, Time Critical Targeting, Combat Identification, Radar Imagery, Integrated Air/Missile Defense, and Mobile/Fixed C2ISR Performance, Exploitation & Dissemination Facilities.

This is a full-time position located at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Must hold an active Secret clearance

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 12 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

Technical Skills:

• Technical and analytic experience with environmental aspects of fielding government systems; Air Force acquisition processes, standards, and guidance
• Experience with homeland defense ground surveillance capabilities highly desirable as is experience with radar systems
• The ability to serve on teams conducting multimedia inspections at complex facilities
• Provide assistance with planning, quality assurance, safety inspection protocols, and sampling

Interpersonal Skills:

• Strong communication skills for interfacing with program offices, government personnel, contractors, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Self-starter capable of working independently while following established processes and program guidelines.
• Effective team collaborator able to coordinate across engineering, logistics, test, and acquisition disciplines.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills for troubleshooting technical issues and developing successful outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include, but not limited to:

• Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures and monitor progress of environmental improvement programs
• Provide technical-level support for environmental remediation and litigation projects, including remediation system design and determination of regulatory applicability
• Inspect industrial and municipal facilities and programs in order to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
• Provide administrative support for projects by collecting data, providing project documentation, training staff, and performing other general administrative duties
• Develop proposed project objectives and targets, and report to management on progress in attaining them
• Advise corporations and government agencies of procedures to follow in cleaning up contaminated sites in order to protect people and the environment and environmental policies and standards and assist in budget implementation, forecasts, and administration
• Inform company employees and other interested parties of environmental issues
