Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) is seeking a Department Manager for the Environmental Due Diligence and Remediation Services in the Charlotte area. You will lead department staff, manage projects, and align with BLE’s standards while building a regional practice.

The role emphasizes client development, strategic planning, and mentorship. Strong leadership, technical expertise in environmental consulting, and a track record of driving profitability are required to advance BLE’s growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline required.
• Professional registration as a PE or PG in North Carolina strongly preferred; other relevant environmental certifications encouraged.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting including leadership, project management, staff development, and business development.
• Established relationships within the Charlotte metro area and surrounding markets preferred.
• Experience conducting, managing, and reviewing environmental due diligence, investigations, and remediation projects per Phase I/II and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the department’s business development strategy with BLE leadership.
• Recruit, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of environmental professionals.
• Oversee environmental due diligence, site investigations, and remediation projects from proposal to closure.
• Manage departmental budgets, profitability, utilization, and resource planning.
• Provide technical leadership, QA/QC, and contract oversight across projects.
