Job summary

BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING seeks a Department Manager for Environmental Due Diligence and Remediation Services in the Charlotte area. The role leads staff, aligns with corporate standards, and grows BLE's local environmental practice.

You will develop client relationships, lead business development, recruit and mentor staff, and coordinate with corporate leadership to ensure client satisfaction and profitability. This senior role offers ownership opportunities in BLE's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or related technical discipline is required.
• Professional registration as a PE or PG in North Carolina is strongly preferred; other environmental certifications encouraged.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, including leadership and business development.
• Established relationships within the Charlotte metro area and surrounding markets are strongly preferred.
• Experience with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and regulatory reporting.
• Knowledge of ASTM standards and environmental investigation and remediation programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the department’s business development strategy in collaboration with the Charlotte Branch Manager and BLE leadership through strategic client development, market expansion, and long-term relationship building.
• Oversee environmental due diligence, site investigation, and remediation projects from proposal development and scoping through site assessment, field investigation, remedial evaluation, design and implementation, regulatory reporting, and closure, ensuring appropriate staffing, technical approach, schedule, budget, and client communication.
• Lead recruiting, staff development, and mentoring to build a high-performing team and manage departmental budgets, profitability, utilization, and resource planning.
• Provide technical leadership and QA/QC, review deliverables for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance, and coach staff on project risk management and client engagement.
• Develop and implement the department’s long-term strategy, operating budgets, and performance objectives aligned with BLE’s vision.
