Job summary

Anduril Industries seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own the environmental control system (ECU) design for expeditionary shelters. You will drive end‑to‑end development from sizing to fielded hardware, working with suppliers and in‑house teams to meet mission requirements in harsh environments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience, focused on HVAC, refrigeration, or environmental control unit design.
• Experience in vapor‑compression system design (component selection, sizing, integration).
• Strong grounding in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with suppliers or vendors on hardware design and build.
• CAD skills and ability to produce engineering drawings.
• BS, MSc, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Must be a U.S. Person for access to export‑controlled information; onsite Costa Mesa, CA.

Responsibilities

• Own environmental control systems from concept through real‑world use by warfighters.
• Drive the supplier relationship to specify, evaluate, and refine hardware.
• Build in‑house capability and roadmap for HVAC/ECU design.
• Size for extreme environments using first principles in thermodynamics and psychrometrics.
• Use CFD and thermal analysis to optimize airflow, coils, condensation, and packaging.
• Engineer for survival against battlefield conditions (sand, salt air, shock, vibration).
• Hands‑on prototyping and testing of first articles.
• Deliver at scale with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
