Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Minimum of ten years of professional writing experience.
• Demonstrated experience in both writing and editing in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible language.
• Experience using AI tools for writing, editing or workflow optimization.
• Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and integrate them into daily work.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Experience collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of healthcare or academic environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Content creation: develop strategic, clear content for MUSC Catalyst News and other channels.
• Pitch stories and manage multiple projects from concept to publication.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather accurate information.
• Edit, proofread and refine content for accuracy and consistency.
• Ensure content aligns with enterprise brand voice and editorial standards.
• Provide editorial feedback to improve quality across platforms.
• Coach contributors on writing and editing best practices.
• Assist with content publishing via Sitecore and coordinate with digital teams.
• Use AI tools to draft, edit, summarize and optimize workflows.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes and automate tasks.
• Support AI-enabled workflows to improve turnaround and scalability.
• Analyze content performance and refine strategies based on insights.
• Other duties as assigned.
