Job summary

Sysco is seeking a Principal Software Architect to lead design and evolution of scalable enterprise platforms across supply chain and warehouse management systems. You will stay hands-on in critical code paths while shaping architecture standards used by multiple teams.

Responsibilities include setting standards, roadmaps, cloud-native strategy, and driving migrations to AWS, while mentoring engineers and architects to elevate technical execution across Sysco.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, architecture, systems design, and technology leadership.
• Deep experience with frontend, backend, and platform technologies including Java, Node.js, React.js, Angular, RDBMS, NoSQL.
• Proven experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale applications including cloud-native, microservices, distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and modern software development methodologies (Agile/DevOps).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex concepts into business language.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and guide architects toward solutions.
• Experience with AI-enabled SDLC and warehouse/supply chain tech is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mature the solution architecture practice across domains.
• Define roadmaps and drive architecture strategy for cloud-native and microservices platforms.
• Provide architectural oversight ensuring alignment with IT strategy.
• Modernize legacy systems with state-of-the-art tech stacks.
• Lead evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI/ML.
• Drive standardization and reusability of components and infrastructure.
• Architect and prototype solutions for complex technical problems.
• Partner with product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to align architecture with business goals.
• Drive large-scale cloud migrations from on-premises to AWS.
• Mentor engineers and architects to raise technical execution.
• Oversee architectural design reviews and approve major project solutions.
• Architect multi-region system expansions with cross-border integrations.
• Adopt AI tooling throughout the SDLC to improve productivity and quality.
