Overview

This is a remote role that may be hired in several markets across the United States.

At First Citizens Bank, our commitment to data integrity and governance is foundational to how we serve our clients and manage risk. We are seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Data Defect Reporting Consultant to lead efforts in data defect management and reporting within the Enterprise Data Defect Management & Reporting organization. This role will play a critical part in tracking enterprise data quality issues while designing transparent, actionable reporting to support business partners, compliance efforts, and governance objectives. This consultant will work closely with data stewards, technology teams, and risk partners to improve the overall integrity, transparency, and reliability of the bank’s critical data assets.

Responsibilities

  • Data Defect Management - Supports identification, prioritization and cataloging of data defects and issues for remediation.
  • Track, assess, and oversee resolution of data-related defects across business lines.
  • Partner with technology and data stewards to identify root causes and drive timely remediation.
  • Maintain clear documentation and reporting for defect tracking, including metrics and trends.
  • Leverage enterprise tools to enable automated workflows and consistent defect tracking.
  • Translate data insights into recommendations that support informed decision-making across business and technical teams.
  • Reporting & Analysis - Creates and maintains key data governance metrics used to ensure awareness and transparency as well as to drive consistent improvements.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor defect trends, remediation status, and key metrics for senior leaders and governance forums.
  • Develop and maintain routine and ad hoc reports related to data quality, defect remediation, and policy adherence.
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews, and enterprise risk assessments by providing documentation and metrics related to data defects and resolution activities.

Business Support

  • Enforces data management policies and standards across the Partners with Business Units to ensure required attributes and defect management processes are followed.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business units, providing guidance on data management policies and data quality standards.
  • Support business stakeholders in implementing best practices and achieving compliance with enterprise data governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with data stewards, custodians, and governance teams to promote consistent data management practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Risk Management including Enterprise Data Warehouse OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Risk Management including Enterprise Data Warehouse.

Understanding of data warehousing and transformation as well as extract, transform, and load processes, Knowledge of Cognos and SAS, Ability to write and understand SAS programming language, Knowledge of technologies and trends impacting the financial service and insurance industry.

The base pay for this position is generally between $140,000 and $170,000. Actual starting pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other factors. Total compensation may include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and other awards.
