Job summary

Expression, headquartered in Washington, DC, seeks a Lead Architect to provide technical leadership for JPES/JCRM sustainment. You will guide software architecture, engineering strategy, and secure cloud/on-prem solutions across a large-scale DoD mission system.

Lead agile teams, ensure RMF/ATO compliance, and align with DoD standards while delivering scalable, secure, mission-critical systems across Azure, on-prem, and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical discipline; four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience leading enterprise software architecture and engineering efforts for Federal Government/DoD programs.
• Experience as Chief Architect, Chief Engineer, Lead Architect, Solution Architect, or Technical Lead on large-scale software programs.
• Experience leading enterprise application architecture within Agile environments.
• Experience designing cloud/hybrid architectures, DevSecOps pipelines, and system integration.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, API design, databases, CI/CD, and configuration management.
• Experience with RMF, NIST, STIG, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks.
• Ability to present technical solutions to senior Government stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams with Government customers.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for software architecture, engineering, infrastructure, and enterprise technology decisions for JPES and JCRM.
• Define and maintain the enterprise architecture to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions.
• Lead design, modernization, integration, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise apps using Agile and DevSecOps.
• Provide technical leadership across software engineering, cloud, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, and testing teams.
• Translate operational requirements into technical solutions, roadmaps, and implementation strategies.
• Design and oversee secure cloud-native and hybrid architectures (Azure IL6, on-premises, classified environments).
• Oversee architecture reviews, releases, system integration, deployments, and sustainment.
• Ensure adherence to RMF, STIG, ATO requirements; drive secure SDLC practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and propose modernization initiatives for performance and security.
• Represent program in technical meetings, architecture reviews, and executive briefings.
