Position: Senior Engineering Lab Technician
As a member of our Engineering Test Lab Team, the Senior Engineering Lab Tech will perform a variety of tasks related to vibration, load deflection, shock, endurance, and production testing. This position requires a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who can work independently and as a team player to ensure the timely testing of Hutchinson's products.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Set up, perform, evaluate, and document a variety of engineering and production tests on Hutchinson components.
- Perform tests such as vibration, load deflection, shock, endurance, and production testing. Evaluate and validate test results.
- Evaluate and document test fixtures, test procedures, and test results.
- Provide leadership in working with other lab technicians, engineers, manufacturing personnel, and customers to ensure expedient results.
- Lead continuous improvement of methods, processes, documentation, safety, and housekeeping in the lab.
- Train other lab techs on testing principles, practices, and Hutchinson components.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following safety procedures and contributing to a safety-first culture by identifying risky situations.
Position Requirements Include:
- High School diploma or equivalent; additional specialized technical training preferred.
- 6+ years of related mechanical, electrical, or testing experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Familiarity with Instron Bluehill Universal or similar testing software.
- Familiarity with Apex Series Vibration or similar testing software.
- Experience with environmental test lab equipment such as universal testing machines, electrodynamics shakers, and environmental chambers.
- Ability to read and interpret written instructions, prints, data sheets, and use technical math for analyzing drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.
- Experience in developing test procedures and evaluating test results.
- Proficiency in using computer-aided material testing systems and documenting testing procedures and fixturing.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Awareness of ISO 9000/TS16949/AS 9000 requirements as needed.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to focus.
- US Citizenship required.
