Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking a Sr Nuclear Engineering Technologist to provide advanced technical expertise and leadership within the nuclear engineering team. The role involves independent problem solving, reports, and mentoring other technologists, with travel to field sites as needed, and the opportunity to contribute to improvements in maintenance strategies and instrumentation and controls.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Engineering Technology
• 6 years minimum related work experience
• In lieu of degree, High School / GED and 8 years minimum related work experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology
• Experience with Air Operated Valves and Motor Operated Valves
• Experience with Instrumentation and Controls Engineering
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Experience in the nuclear utility industry
• Proficient in applying principles of project management

Responsibilities

• Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
• Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
• Conducts engineering and related studies.
• Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
• Coaches and mentors other Nuclear Engineering Technologists
