Job summary

Kansas City National Security Campus in Kansas City, MO, seeks an engineer-level technician to perform intermediate to complex technical activities, using advanced engineering concepts and testing methods to support national security programs. You will gather data, run tests, set up equipment, calibrate standards, and draft procedures while maintaining records and collaborating with engineering to resolve issues.

U.S. citizenship and DOE clearance are required.

Qualifications

• 4 years relevant experience or 2+ years experience in a related technical role plus 2-year technical degree of 4-year technical degree
• Unique electrical, mechanical, chemical processing and/or electronic skills may be required for some positions
• Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
• United States Citizenship
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

Responsibilities

• Sets up test equipment, monitors and measures instruments and tests breadboard circuitry and prototype units
• Support includes technical bench and field setup, deployment, retrieval and repairs
• Builds prototype units for testing and experimentation
• Conducts tests with new materials, equipment and processes to develop data for specs
• Gathers and evaluates data for validity, accuracy, and completeness
• Locates and corrects malfunctions in product and testing equipment
• Performs post-mortem analyses to determine failure causes
• Maintains and calibrates metrology standards and lab equipment
• Drafts calibrating and operating procedures based on equipment knowledge
• Records laboratory notes and other details for engineers
• Collaborates with management/engineering to maintain equipment reliability
• May provide technical direction and training to others
