Job summary

Haley Ward is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician in Winsted, CT to support Project Managers and Engineers with engineering tasks. The role requires field inspections, CADD documentation, and coordination with multiple departments on contract requirements.

Ideal candidates have an Associate degree in an engineering-related field and at least 7 years of experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, plus Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in an engineering related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience.
• Experience in field inspection or construction techniques and materials preferred.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares drawings, plans, and other CADD documents using Civil 3D to support project matters (corridors, surfaces, plans, profiles, cross sections).
• Performs field inspections and records inspection data.
• Prepares quantity estimates and assists with detailed estimating.
• Tabulates data and prepares charts, graphs, or sketches.
• Gathers and measures field data and evaluates field conditions.
• Assists engineers in preparing construction design documents.
• Prepares exhibits, appendices, and maps for permit submissions.
• Operates various software applications and maintains project records.

What you can expect to be doing:

The function of the Senior Engineering Technician is to provide assistance to Project Managers and Engineers on projects performing Engineering Technician responsibilities as needed.

• Prepares drawings, plans, and other CADD documents as needed to support project matters using Civil 3D, including the use of corridors, surface manipulation, plans, profiles, and cross sections. Pipe network knowledge preferred.
• Performs field inspections. Records and reports inspection data.
• Prepares quantity estimates and assists with detailed estimating.
• Tabulates data and prepares charts, graphs, or sketches.
• Gathers and measures field data, evaluates field conditions.
• Assists engineers in the preparation of construction design documents.
• Prepares exhibits, appendices, and maps as required for permit submissions.
• Operates various software applications, ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files.
• Assists in the preparation of engineering design calculations.
• Works closely with personnel from other departments as necessary to ensure fulfillment of contract requirements.
• Assists in soil testing and soil sampling.
• Promotes new business for the total company and for own area of expertise.
• Maintains neat and orderly work area which will allow access to project information to other team members.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Department/Branch Manager, related staff, and the general public. Promotes interdepartmental communications and cooperation.
• Encourages and promotes job safety to staff. Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions for self and others.
• Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor.

What you will need to succeed:

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in an engineering related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience.
• Experience in field inspection or construction techniques and materials preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD is required.

The estimated range for this role is: $82,820 to $99,189 salary. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications, credentials, skills, and demonstrated proficiency for the role. Compensation is reviewed at least annually each year. Compensation is also adjusted throughout the year to recognize position advancement, responsibilities and licensure and/or certification.
