Job summary

Haley Ward, Inc. in Winsted, CT is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support Project Managers and Engineers on engineering projects. You will prepare drawings using Civil 3D, perform field inspections, estimate quantities, and assist in design calculations. Collaboration across departments and a focus on safety are required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in an engineering related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience.
• Experience in field inspection or construction techniques and materials preferred.
• Working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares drawings, plans, and other CADD documents to support project matters using Civil 3D.
• Performs field inspections and reports inspection data.
• Prepares quantity estimates and assists with detailed estimating.
• Tabulates data and prepares charts, graphs, or sketches.
• Gathers and measures field data, evaluates field conditions.
• Assists engineers in the preparation of engineering design calculations.
• Prepares exhibits, appendices, and maps for permit submissions.
• Operates various software applications and maintains records.
• Promotes safe working conditions and works with other departments to meet contract requirements.

What you can expect to be doing:

The function of the Senior Engineering Technician is to provide assistance to Project Managers and Engineers on projects performing Engineering Technician responsibilities as needed.

• Prepares drawings, plans, and other CADD documents as needed to support project matters using Civil 3D, including the use of corridors, surface manipulation, plans, profiles, and cross sections. Pipe network knowledge preferred.
• Performs field inspections. Records and reports inspection data.
• Prepares quantity estimates and assists with detailed estimating.
• Tabulates data and prepares charts, graphs, or sketches.
• Gathers and measures field data, evaluates field conditions.
• Assists engineers in the preparation of construction design documents.
• Prepares exhibits, appendices, and maps as required for permit submissions.
• Operates various software applications, ability to read, update, and maintain various records and files.
• Assists in the preparation of engineering design calculations.
• Works closely with personnel from other departments as necessary to ensure fulfillment of contract requirements.
• Assists in soil testing and soil sampling.
• Promotes new business for the total company and for own area of expertise.
• Maintains neat and orderly work area which will allow access to project information to other team members.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with Department/Branch Manager, related staff, and the general public. Promotes interdepartmental communications and cooperation.
• Encourages and promotes job safety to staff. Responsible for ensuring safe working conditions for self and others.
• Performs other tasks as directed by supervisor.

The estimated range for this role is: $82,820 to $99,189 salary. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications, credentials, skills, and demonstrated proficiency for the role. Compensation is reviewed at least annually each year. Compensation is also adjusted throughout the year to recognize position advancement, responsibilities and licensure and/or certification.
